• Check mountain weather before hiking — Conditions on the plateau change fast and fog can obscure trails, so start early and carry warm layers.
• Cable car queues get long — Arrive early on weekends and holidays as the Bușteni cable car has limited capacity and can close in high winds.
• Respect the mountain rescue markings — Follow the colored stripe trail signs (Salvamont) and stay on marked paths, as off-trail terrain is dangerous.
• Legends of the Sphinx — Locals attach mystical significance to the Sphinx formation, especially around the autumn equinox when it draws crowds.
