• Base yourself in Demänovská Dolina — Most hotels and après-ski cluster in this valley below the slopes rather than in Chopok itself.
• Respect Tatra National Park rules — Stay on marked trails, carry out your rubbish, and note that off-trail hiking is restricted to protect the alpine environment.
• Carry cash for mountain huts — Small salaš huts and rustic eateries may not accept cards, so keep euros handy for cheese and drinks.
