Local customs & good to know
- Respect pilgrim etiquette — As a stop on the Camino de Santiago, greet passing pilgrims with 'Buen Camino' and give them space at albergues and cafés.
- Visit during Corpus Christi or local fiestas — Sangüesa's September festivities in honor of Santa María include processions, bull runs, and traditional dances worth witnessing.
- Shops close for midday siesta — Many small businesses close between roughly 2pm and 5pm, so plan sightseeing or errands accordingly.
- Basque-Navarrese language influence — While Spanish is dominant, you may notice Basque-influenced place names and some bilingual signage reflecting Navarre's cultural mix.
